Time to catch up with the release dates the studios have announced over the last couple weeks. Via Box Office Mojo:

Lionsgate pushed the Jason Statham actioner Safe from October 28 to March 2, 2012. The move explains why we haven’t seen a trailer yet.
Focus Features scheduled Sundance darling Pariah for December 25
The Weinstein Company pushed Ralph Fiennes’ Shakespeare adaptation Coriolanus from December 2 to January 13, 2012. I imagine they may sneak a limited release in before the end of the year to qualify for the Oscars, but the move suggests TWC will focus on My Week With Marilyn, The Artist, W.E., and The Iron Lady for the Oscar push.
Warner Bros. will release the Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Lucky One, led by Zac Efron, on August 24, 2012
Fox Searchlight booked The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel for Tom Wilkinson, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, and Bill Nighy on March 9, 2012
More on each movie after the jump.

Safe
Catherine Chan, Chris Sarandon, Robert John Burke, Reggie Lee, and Danny Hoch join Statham in Safe. Boaz Yakin (Death in Love) directed from his own screenplay. Official synopsis:

A former elite agent encounters and rescues a twelve-year-old Chinese girl who’s been abducted by the Triads. Armed with a safe-cracking combination, they find themselves in the middle of a stand-off between Triads, the Russian Mafia and high-level corrupt New York City politicians and police.

Pariah
Adepero Oduye earned acclaim for her starring performance in Pariah. Pernell Walker, Aasha Davis, Charles Parnell, Sahra Mellesse, and Kim Wayans also star. Official synopsis:

A rousing success at its world premiere at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, this deeply felt human drama is the feature debut of writer/director Dee Rees. Adepero Oduye portrays Alike (pronounced “ah-lee-kay”), a 17-year-old African-American woman who lives with her parents (Kim Wayans and Charles Parnell) and younger sister (Sahra Mellesse) in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene neighborhood. A gifted student, Alike is quietly but firmly embracing her identity as a lesbian. With the support of her best friend Laura (Pernell Walker), she is especially eager to find a girlfriend. Wondering how much she can confide in her family, Alike strives to get through adolescence with grace, humor, and tenacity.

Coriolanus
Fiennes is both directing and starring in Coriolanus, joined by Vanessa Redgrave, Brian Cox, Gerard Butler, Jessica Chastain, and James Nesbitt. Official synopsis:

Coriolanus (Ralph Fiennes), a hero of Rome, is a great soldier but despises the people. His extreme views ignite a mass riot and he is banished from Rome. Coriolanus allies with a sworn enemy (Gerard Butler) to take his revenge on the city. As director and star, Ralph Fiennes brings William Shakespeare’s visceral history play to the big screen for the first time. Coriolanus is a drama for the ages, a commentary on the precarious draw of war and an auspicious directorial debut from one of the world’s great classical actor.

The Lucky One
Efron stars opposite Taylor Schilling , Blythe Danner, Riley Thomas Stewart, and Adam Lefevre in The Lucky One, directed by Scott Hicks. Here’s the synopsis for Sparks’ book:

Is there really such thing as a lucky charm? The hero of Nicholas Sparks’s new novel believes he’s found one in the form of a photograph of a smiling woman he’s never met, but who he comes to believe holds the key to his destiny. The chain of events that leads to him possessing the photograph and finding the woman pictured in it is the stuff of love stories only a master such as Sparks can write.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
Dev Patel joins the stupendous veteran cast for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, directed by John Madden (The Debt). Official synopsis:

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel follows a group of British retirees who decide to “outsource” their retirement to less expensive and seemingly exotic India. Enticed by advertisements for the newly restored Marigold Hotel and bolstered with visions of a life of leisure, they arrive to find the palace a shell of its former self. Though the new environment is less luxurious than imagined, they are forever transformed by their shared experiences, discovering that life and love can begin again when you let go of the past.
