Fiennes picks domestic actors

The filming of Coriolanus, as directed by Ralph Fiennes begins in ten days in Belgrade, while the list of local actors to play alongside stars such as Ralph Fiennes, Gerard Butler and Vanessa Redgrave is gradually being finalized. The Serbian actors and actresses hired to appear in Coriolanus are Dragan Micanovic, Marko Zivic, Danijela Vranjes, Slavko Stimac, and Slobodan “Boda” Ninkovic.

The modern-day adaptation of William Shakespeare’s tragedy Coriolanus features Jessica Chastain, best known for her roles in TV shows Law & Order and ER, and Scottish actor Brian Cox, whose rich acting career has brought him over 150 films and an Emmy in 2000 for the role of Hermann Göring in the TV series Nuremberg.

The budget of Coriolanus is $20 million and further four million have been allocated to be spent for the Serbia-based leg of the production process. Also, it is still unknown whether, as previously announced, key scenes will be shot inside the Serbian Parliament building.

– “We talked two days ago with the producers of the film and we expect that they will send us in the next few days send clearly defined requirements for recording and we are going to shoot in the Parliament building, which technical requirements are to be fulfilled,” Veljko Odalovic, Secretary of the Serbian Parliament, has said for Blic.
