Gerard Butler will fight to survive alongside Mike Colter when Plane arrives in theaters.
Gerard Butler looks to survive on a war-torn island after a brutal crash in the upcoming film Plane. Most people think a crash landing in a commercial aircraft would be quite traumatic, but the adventure is just beginning for Butler’s character, Brodie Torrance, who finds himself trapped on a dangerous island with an accused murderer as his only assistance. There should be plenty of action in Plane, as the nightmares never end for Torrance and Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter).
MovieWeb received a brand-new look at the upcoming film, showcasing Torrance and the blood, sweat, and very likely tears that will overcome the character through his journey. We see Butler’s character with a roughed-up face, dirt, sweat, and a handy assault rifle that should help when the going gets tough, as he will surely have no shortage of enemies following their crash landing. Mike Colter is the co-star as an accused murderer in the process of being transferred by the FBI, with plenty of notable projects to his name. He played the titular character in Marvel’s Luke Cage on Netflix from 2016 to 2018, with additional appearances as the same character in Jessica Jones. He also starred in Men in Black 3 and Extinction. The two leads are joined by Yoson An (Mulan), Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Dominion), Paul Ben-Victor (The Wire), Remi Adeleke (The Terminal List), Joey Slotnick (Twister), Evan Dane Taylor (Daredevil), and Tony Goldwyn (The Mechanic).
Jean-François Richet helms Plane, with previous work including The Emperor of Paris, One Wild Moment, and Blood Father. Charles Cumming and J.P Davis wrote the screenplay for the film, with Butler, Marc Butan, and Jason Constantine serving as just a few producers of Plane. The official synopsis for the movie, courtesy of Lionsgate, reads:
“In the white-knuckle action movie PLANE, pilot Brodie Torrance (Gerard Butler) saves his passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island – only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning. When most of the passengers are taken hostage by dangerous rebels, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI. In order to rescue the passengers, Torrance will need Gaspare’s help, and will learn there’s more to Gaspare than meets the eye.”
