TRAFFIC ALERT: Downtown Shreveport streets to close for ‘Olympus’ filming

Starting Monday morning, some streets in downtown Shreveport will be closed for the filming of ‘Olympus Has Fallen.’

The action thriller stars Gerard Butler, Dylan McDermott and Aaron Eckhart. Butler will play an ex-Secret Service agent fighting to defend the White House from terrorists. It’s Millennium Studio’s latest and biggest project yet.

Traffic will be interrupted in downtown Shreveport on Monday, July 9 on Texas Street between Marshall and Common streets from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to Midnight.

Traffic will also be interrupted on Tuesday, July 10 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Cotton Street between Louisiana Avenue and Texas Street and on Common Street between Crockett Street and Fairfield Avenue.

Officials say traffic will be closed from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Texas Street between Marshall and McNeill streets, Marshall Street between Texas and Milam Streets, Milam Street between Marshall and McNeill streets and McNeill Street between Milam and Texas streets.

Special effects work is expected during filming on Milam Street between Marshall and McNeill streets will also be closed on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., including gunfire, smoke and explosions.

Drivers are advised to avoid these streets during filming by taking alternate routes.

Filming is expected to begin soon at a replica set of the White House, currently under construction in Bossier City on Walker Drive at Arthur Ray Teague Parkway near the CenturyLink Center.

Walker Place will be also made to look like Pennsylvania Avenue. Some additional road closures are expected when filming when filming begins there.
