Belgrade – The annual 38th Belgrade international film festival (FEST) closed on Sunday evening with the German-British co- production of Pope Joan. More than 90,000 visitors saw 64 movies from 30 countries during the 10-day festival, which featured new releases from Lars von Trier, Martin Scorsese, Jim Sheridan, Roman Polanski and many others.
Croatian movie Metastaze was the winner of FEST 2010 competition programme, while Jacques Audiard’s A Prophet was unofficially voted by audiences as the best movie of the festival.

British actor and director Ralph Fiennes is set to open next year’s FEST with his adaptation of Shakespeare’s Coriolanus, filmed in Serbia, organizers said.

Fiennes, who opened last year’s FEST was also seen this year at press screening of Samuel Maoz’s movie Lebanon

Fiennes’ presence will bring a touch of glamour to the festival, as this year there were no famous faces, due to economic crisis, even though FEST celebrated its 40th birthday.
