Law Abiding Citizen Scores a Second Sweep of All Home Video Charts

March 4, 2010 | Law Abiding Citizen News

Not even five new theatrical releases could stop Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx’s new release from topping the charts for two weeks in a row. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Law Abiding Citizen took the top spot on all three charts for the second week in a row, for the week ending February 28.

There were five underperforming theatrical releases that debuted this weekend and Steven Soderbergh’s The Informant fared best among the newcomers, taking third place on the DVD sales charts, fourth place on the DVD rental charts and 10th place on the Blu-ray sales charts. Law Abiding Citizen kept performing quite strongly, though, with The Informant only selling 37% as many units in its first week as Law Abiding Citizen did in its second week and Law Abiding Citizen only dropped off an amazing 17% in rental revenue from its debut week as well.

Law Abiding Citizen completed the sweep with another victory atop the Blu-ray sales charts, with BD sales surging even more than its debut week. It was reported that a whopping 41% of the title’s total sales came in the high-def format this week, whereas just 28% of the total units were in Blu-ray last week.

Of the other new releases this weekend – The Box, Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant, Sorority Row and Everybody’s Fine – The Box took fourth place on the sales charts and Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant took sixth place on the rental charts.
