(Atlantic City, NJ, June 10, 2009) — Did you see Jennifer Aniston over there on the Boardwalk? Was that Nick Nolte who just ducked around the corner? If you think they couldn’t be in Atlantic City, think again.
Two motion pictures with well known stars will film this summer in Atlantic City. Columbia Pictures’ Bounty Hunter, starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler will be filming at Trump Taj Mahal and various locations along the Atlantic City Boardwalk and nearby roadways. The Warrior, a Lions Gate film starring Nick Nolte and Tom Hardy will also be filming along the Boardwalk.
Bounty Hunter is an action flick, with Gerard Butler playing a bounty hunter who’s hired to retrieve his ex-wife, a journalist who witnessed a murder and has skipped bail played by Jennifer Aniston. Bounty Hunter is scheduled to be released in late 2009.
The Warrior stars Nick Nolte as a recovered alcoholic and former coach who is enlisted by his son to train for a mixed martial arts tournament. The Warrior is set to be released in 2010 and also stars Jennifer Morrison, Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton and Kevin Dunn.
Taking into consideration its proximity to four major cities, and its location within one third of the United States’ population, Atlantic City is an ideal film venue.
Together with the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission, the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority’s Film Office has been instrumental in bringing many of Hollywood’s hottest productions to the city that’s “Always Turned On.†In the past Ocean’s Eleven, The Color of Money, Duane Hopwood and Rounders have all been filmed in Atlantic City.
Several financial incentives are in place for filmmakers to make Atlantic City their location of choice, and include a 20% tax credit for qualified production expenses and exemption from New Jersey’s 7% sales tax for certain tangible property used in the production of films and television programs to name a few.
