Mayor Nutter is demoted

February 3, 2009 | Law Abiding Citizen News

Michael Nutter, master thespian.

The mayor plays a mayoral aide in Law Abiding Citizen, the thriller starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler.

Viola Davis, an Oscar nominee for Doubt, stood up as Philly’s mayor in scenes shot Friday night at City Hall. In one, Nutter overhears his boss complaining about rough treatment from the media. (Like that ever happens to a Philadelphia mayor.) In another, Nutter watches as Foxx’s character is sworn in as district attorney. Nutter had no lines, and it was not clear if he would be paid for his work.

After two weeks at City Hall, the film crew moves into North Philly for a few days, and later this week lands at George W. Hill Correctional Facility in Thornton, Delaware County.
