Directors look for extras in NM

September 28, 2007 | Gamer News, Uncategorized

You can be in a movie with the star of “300,” and you don’t have to go to Hollywood or be an actor.

Casting directors are looking for men and women between 18 and 30 of all ethnicities to participate in “Game,” a futuristic thriller about video games controlling people, said Sally Allen, a casting director with Film Savage Casting Co.

Extras are paid $120 to $150 a day, Allen said.

The movie stars Gerard Butler, who was in “300” and “Tomb Raider.”

“This isn’t a low-budget movie that you’re never going to see,” Allen said.

The film will be shot in and around Albuquerque, she said.

Anyone who wants to be an extra can go to the Film Savage offices at 4421 McLeod Road N.E. on Saturday and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., Allen said.

When the film’s producer finds a location to shoot the film, the company will call the applicants, Allen said.

“We’re looking for over 4,000 people,” she said. “It isn’t like you’re going to get here, stand in line and never hear from us again.”

The movie will be shot between Nov. 3 and Jan. 31, Allen said. It will have several scenes with college-age extras, she said.

Applicants need to bring a Social Security card and photo ID, Allen said.

Students will see the creativity of wardrobe specialists in the film industry, she said.

“This is a futuristic film, and we know that UNM has a lot of diversity to it,” Allen said. “It is going to be fun because everyone is going to be in hair and makeup and get to see what it is like.”

Students who get involved in this movie will have the opportunity to work on future projects Film Savage is involved with, she said.

Casting calls are good opportunities to see how a movie is made, student Elisha Crow said.

“I’m very into the film industry,” he said. “It would interest me because I’ve been to casting calls before, and they are fun to go to.”
