Review: Movie: 300 (Blog)

March 17, 2007 | 300 Reviews

It’s simply beautiful to see comic art come to life in cinema. At least for me. I’d never had thought I’d ever see a movie that could take Frank Miller’s use of negatives in his comic form and bring it to a movie without looking distasteful. But Rodriguez did that with Sin City beautifully. Then now Zach Snyder brings Frank Miller’s 300 to life, and its simply beautiful to the eyes.

Persian Emissary: This is madness!
King Leonidas: Madness? This is Sparta!

From it’s beauty and on to it’s madness, as this quote from the movie clearly proclaims. As it does feel like madness to me to release a movie about white men touting about freedom going against the law of the land and fighting Persians, when in the real world there are some white men touting about freedom and going against the laws of the lands and fighting, well Persians.

The real world aside, I’d love to watch the movie again. I hope the DVD is released soon enough so that I can watch extra bonus features with crisp clear images. Until then I’d take going with people that I can turn to after the movie and yell “Spartan!”. Don’t worry I wont end up doing this, this or this.

Now excuse me as I need to consult an oracle.

Final Verdict: Watch it twice, then run about town with a red cape.
