THE SCOTTISH ACTOR WILL BE ON CAPRI ON DECEMBER 30 FOR THE GRAND GALA IN HONOR OF “THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA,” THE UPCOMING OSCAR CONTENDER.
Capri (NA), December 9 – Actor Gerard Butler is named the ‘Sexiest Man on the Internet.’ At 34 years old, he is to be seen in ‘The Phantom of the Opera,’ as the absolute madman in Joel Schumacher’s adaptation of the musical (which will be seen on screens around the globe on December 17) and has received his most recent title from a poll on the website www.film.it.
Gerard Butler, who has recently become entrenched in the international promotion of his latest work, will be in the spotlight on December 30 at ‘Capri, Hollywood 2004’ for the ‘Night of the Phantom’ in his honor. Butler will be given the ‘Capri Fashion Award’ while, throughout the streets of the island, one will be able to hear the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, the great English composer whose work has been instrumental in bringing the musical talent of the young actor to the world. Among the screenings scheduled for the festival will be Schumacher’s new film and ‘Dear Frankie,’ a comedy produced by Miramax, which stars Butler and has yet to be screened in Italy.
Having previously taken on supporting roles in ‘Timeline’ and ‘Tomb Raider 2: The Cradle of Life’ along side Angelina Jolie, Butler has also recently completed shooting on the Icelandic set of ‘Beowulf & Grendel,’ an opera taken from the epic English poem that inspired Tolkien’s ‘Lord of the Rings.’ The special effects and the most spectacular scenes from this original production will be presented by Gerard Butler and director Sturla Gunnarsson as a premier during the course of Capri, Hollywood (December 27 through January 2, www.caprihollywood.com) The organizer of these events, Pascal Vicedomini, will host the gala and awards show for this edition of Capri, Hollywood alongside the actresses Elena Russo and Antonella Troise.
