Women’s Image Network (WIN), levels the playing field for women each year by producing The WIN Awards which venerate films, shows, and commercials, which either feature female protagonists OR that have been directed/created by a women.
On Sunday, November 7, 2004, WIN will present over fifty WIN awards to television and interactive commercials, feature films and television shows that feature female protagonists at its annual gala to be held in Los Angeles.
WIN will also honor Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Leo Burnett Worldwide, Linda Wolf, with The Harriett Abbott Award for Lifetime Achievement in Advertising. This inaugural advertising award was named for Harriett Abbott, the pen name for America’s first female ad copywriter, Helen Resor.
Catherine Hardwicke, director of the breakout independent film THIRTEEN starring Holly Hunter and Nikki Reed, will also be honored at the WIN Awards ceremony. Hardwicke will be on hand to accept the Chaplin Limelight Award which was established in 1993 to spotlight emerging women directors, who bring a sense of innovation and originality, together with a standard of excellence, to their creative pursuits. Last year’s recipient, director, Vicky Jenson, (SHREK, SHARK TALE), will present to Hardwicke.
WIN founder, Phyllis Stuart said, “Although WIN is in its eleventh year, this is the first time we have included advertising in our film and television award show. WIN is thrilled to honor Wonder Woman, Linda Wolf, who is smart, effective and kind. Linda knows that women purchase eighty percent of the stuff and has long fought to dispel female stereotypes in advertising.”
Say Stuart, “Catherine Hardwicke is my hero; with very little time and money she directed and co-wrote THIRTEEN with a thirteen-year old actress and caught the brass ring a thriving directing career. Catherine is a stand-out filmmaker who combines a hip, cutting-edge creative style with the timeless qualities of perseverance and tenacity”. Hardwicke is wrapping her second feature LORDS OF DOGTOWN with Heath Ledger and Emile Hirsch and will next direct Aron Eckhart in BURDEN.

Her emphasis on brilliant, standard-setting work is rooted in her commitment to deliver business results for clients, which Burnett does time and again as demonstrated at the annual Effie Awards recognizing advertising effectiveness. Previously as CEO of Leo Burnett USA , Linda played an integral part in the most aggressive growth and diversification drive in Burnett’s history, including strategic moves into healthcare, technology, urban marketing and Hispanic marketing. Under her leadership, Leo Burnett USA won more than $600 million in billings from 13 new clients in 2000. Linda currently sits on the boards of Chicago ‘s Field Museum of Natural History, Children’s Memorial Hospital , The Off The Street Club, the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, and the Economic Club of Chicago.
