EXCLUSIVE: Millennium Films is teaming up with Gerard Butler again, this time for Angel Has Fallen, a threequel follow up to hit action titles Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen.
Butler will be back to star as Secret Service agent Mike Banning, who has spent his career keeping American presidents safe. This time, he’s the target. If his attackers can take down half of Washington D.C. with it, all the better. Among those at risk include the President, whose official Air Force One plane is code-named Angel.
Producers are Butler, Alan Siegel, Mark Gill, John Thompson and Matt O’Toole. Exec producers are Avi Lerner, Trevor Short and Christine Otal.
Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt, who created the franchise, will write the script. No director has been set yet.
Millennium will be launching the title to distributors at the American Film Market next week and it’s sure to be one of the hottest titles up for grabs given the box office success of the first two installments: Olympus Has Fallen took $161M at the worldwide box office while London Has Fallen generated a whopping $205M worldwide.
Millennium is targeting a production start in the first half of 2017.
The company will also be shopping Adrian Brody, John Malkovich and Antonio Banderas starrer Unchained, a Reservoir Dogs-style thriller, directed and written by Paul Solet.
Butler is repped by CAA.
