I WAS speaking to the mother of actor Gerry Butler, about to star in the film of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom. She was just back from a stay at Stobo Castle Health Spa, in Peebleshire. “I had a wonderful time, ” revealed Margaret. “I felt so spoiled I didn’t want to go home. And, my goodness, those treatments were heaven.” Gerry actually bought the two-night stay for £5,000 at Ewan McGregor’s charity Burns Supper, and, despite heavy hints on my part, decided to give it to his mum as a pressie.
